Established in 1994, JazzReach is a nationally recognized New York City-based 501(c) (3) not-for-profit organization dedicated to the promotion, performance, creation and teaching of jazz music.
Through the presentation of innovative, widely acclaimed live multi-media educational programs for young audiences, captivating main-stage concerts for general audiences and informative clinics and master-classes for student musicians and ensembles, JazzReach is steadfastly dedicated to fostering a greater appreciation, awareness and understanding of this rich, vital, ever-evolving American art form.
Since premiering our debut educational program in 1997, JazzReach has successfully positioned itself as one of our nation?s leading arts organizations dedicated to jazz. Our dynamic, innovative programs have triumphantly served over 650,000 young people nationwide in partnership with many of America?s most prominent performing arts presenters and have received unanimous praise from students, teachers, parents, the media and arts professionals alike.
JazzReach will provide a music-related, educational outreach program for all of Georgetown County School District?s 4th & 5th graders. The performance group has agreed to provide two back-to-back (hour-long) outreach programs to reach more local students. JazzReach developed a unique & diverse repertoire of substantive, high-quality live educational programs for young audiences that are tailored to elucidate the art form and complement a broad range of students? everyday classroom curriculum. All of JazzReach?s educational programs for young audiences are highly immersive and interactive and are as entertaining as they are informative. Their shows actively engage students in an analysis of the cultural factors that have come together to make jazz such a compelling art form, explain the social conditions that shaped the music?s development, and provide education on the immense impact jazz has had on the sound and evolution of Indigenous American music. Using both, jazz history and 20th-century American history as a backdrop, this special multi-media Miles Davis presentation will engage, inform, & enlighten student audiences about one of the most compelling, infinitely creative and trailblazing artists the world has ever known.

Book Synopsis: Peggy Moriarty's life has been focused on being a single mom to her twins, Grace and Greg. But now that they're teenagers doing their own things, she's at a loss. Her only hobby is watching ''Messages from Beyond,'' a show about a medium who connects the grieving with their deceased loved ones. When the twins leave for college, they give Peggy a gift certificate for an exercise class. At first, Peggy is insulted. But once the sting wears off, she realizes if she gets in shape, she might gain the confidence she needs to go on her favorite TV show and talk to her late husband one last time. With help from her new friends at the gym and Carmen Tavarez, the mother of Grace's boyfriend, Peggy begins to emerge from her shell and spread her wings. She may soon discover that her sum is more than a mother, a widow, and her body.
The Moveable Feast, founded and managed by Linda Ketron, is now in its 29th year. Held at local restaurants weekly throughout the year on Tuesdays or Wednesdays when the presenter or the preferred venue is available, the presentation precedes the meal. For each Feast, the chef prepares a special menu. Food allergies are accommodated with advance notice; vegetarian option always available. Individuals, couples, friends, book clubs, and other small groups are assigned table seating. Although the per feast price has increased in response to increased food and labor costs at the restaurants, your gift certificates or unused three-fer credits will be honored.
