Description

In celebration of International Women’s Month, Hobcaw Barony will be hosting a discussion revolving around the formidable women who visited or worked for the Baruch family at Hobcaw House and Bellefield Plantation between 1911 and 1964. Some of the women were highly influential, some were local heroines, but all were amazing women who left a lasting impression on the world today. Some women of note that will be discussed are Eleanor Roosevelt, Edith Boling Wilson, Patricia Kennedy, Minnie Kennedy, Evangaline Johnson, Julia Kaminski, Kitty Carlisle, Claire Booth Luce, Elvira Palmer and Ella Severin. Participants of this program will immerse themselves in the stories of these trailblazing women, learning about their contributions and adventures during their time at the Barony. Join Hobcaw Barony staff for an afternoon of engaging discussions, educational insights, and delightful refreshments while honoring the legacies of these phenomenal women. Travel is via a 14-passenger bus that will stop at Hobcaw House and Bellefield grounds, getting out at each location. (Exertion Level: Moderate impact – standing, walking on uneven terrain) Reservations required.

Please note that tour participants travel via a 14-person passenger bus on rustic roads comprised of sand and dirt. Often, the roads are extremely rough and rutted, a situation which will jostle riders on the bus. Although the staff at Hobcaw Barony tries to keep them smooth, due to changeable weather and other factors, the condition of the rural roadways cannot be guaranteed to be smooth.
